"Lord Berners painting a picture of Mrs P. Betjeman and her Arab pony, at his home in Berkshire, 1938. His Lordship was something of an eccentric who kept a menagerie of exotic animals under his roof . He died in 1950 at Faringdon House and the epitaph on his gravestone reads: ""Here lies Lord Berners One of life's learners Thanks be to the Lord He never was bored"". Our gesso and wood frames are hand finished by craftsmen using traditional 17th century Florentine techniques. This frame is hand painted in black."
